Let's Hear It For Cross-Training!!

Boston, MA 12/16/10 2:26 p.m. Wow Thing!!

Hello fellow-TEAMers:

Well, I’ll say that being a part of this book club has cost me money!!!! I went into the Zappos website to find out what they were all about and of course found several pairs of shoes that I HAD TO HAVE!!!!! My feet are happy!

Mary, I agree with your take on Tony – I expected him to be a really charismatic, kind of a “center of attention guy”, but he seems very humble and introverted. Maybe there is a side of himself that he saves for his group of people to see.

The investment of time and money into cross-training speaks volumes of the company’s commitment to its customers by providing customers with a well-informed and educated employee base. What excites me most about cross-training is that it can enable a culture of patience, understanding and camaraderie among co-workers. Co-workers who don’t know the ins and out, the hurdles of a particular job may view another’s performance as ineffective or lacking and this can generate assumptions and impact the morale of the office. Cross-training/educating staff through hands-on training of what the person in the next “cube” does and how they do it puts into perspective individual contribution, the job contribution and the job’s connection to the operation as a whole - an invaluable education with a great pay-off.

Talk to you at our next Mission!!!
