Training and Education Can Increase the WOW Factor

WOW! I have had two careers. Tweny-nine years with VERIZON and nine years in Workforce Development. I can safely say that neither career provided me with the culture and work environment at Zappos! However, the one reason I was so successful, and stayed so long, at VERIZON was the training and education that was made available to all employees. I believe that when a company provides an employee the opportunity for education and training, then employees become more invested in the success of the the company and in themselves. If Career TEAM provided their staff the opportunity to received paid outside education and training it would improve the culture of the company overall. There are two organizations, PAWRCC and NAWDP, that members can achieve workforce developement, resume writing, interview coaching, and career coaching certifications. Career Teamers possess the WOW factor in the sense that we believe that "Nobody Does It Better". There is a sense of family and commitment on the company's part to its employees. The team building challenges from the Office of PERKS combined with the sense of comradarie that I have experienced is definitely highly valued on my part. I would like to see more career building opportunities offered to employees.
