No Big Ego!!
This is a great question and I’m having some difficulty in nailing down a specific incident or life experience that resulted to his success. Tony has so many talents that have propelled him to where he is today. He is obviously very intelligent – I am sure it is not an easy feat to get accepted to Harvard. His parents instilled in him work ethic and habits that seemed to come as natural to Tony as his taking his first steps. Tony’s saving habits were very prudent (a lesson I try to teach my children every time they ask the question …”Mom, can I have…..) from a very young age and I don’t get the sense that Tony struggled financially even on his own through college. He wasn’t financially secure in his early stages of business-dabbling, but I do think he had some “financial breathing room” that enabled him to take risks and be confident with taking risks. Tony surrounds himself with people who have simple ideas and are just as curious and driven as he is (for example, Nick with the idea of an on-line shoe shopping experience). Okay, so, I have to take a stand here and answer the question. What was most influential experience, etc. to Tony’s success? Tony doesn’t seem to have the need to be the center of the universe. He welcomes others’ ideas, thoughts and enthusiasm and recognizes the correlation to contributions and triumphs.
