Mission 2

The first part of the book, Profits, follows Tony as a developing entrepreneur. Tony's experiences and hobbies would impact the growth and direction of his company. What experience, hobby, or interest do you think influenced Tony's success the most?

I think that the experience that most influenced Tony's success was not selling "Link Exchange" the first time there was an offer. Holding on to that company is what ultimately allowed him to successfully sell his company at an amazing profit, which subsequently allowed him to start ZAPPO's on his own terms. Making decisions based on financial independence seems to me to be a lot easier than making decisions out of economic need. Tony has the luxury of running a company on his own terms, break any rules, see what works. This benefit allows him to be more creative, pay higher wages, provide greater benefits. All this combined makes "Zappos" a great company to work for!

  2. The experience that influenced Tony's success was when his worm farm failed. This was a failure that Tony learned from and moved forward. It states in the book that we must learn from our mistakes and move forward. Tony also learned that by not working hard at his music lessons it showed when he got infront of his teacher. I learned that we must strive for the best and trust.
